Boyband beranggotakan lima orang ini disatukan tahun 2005-2006. Pembentukan kelompok ini dibuat dalam serial televisi dengan nama 'Big Bang Documentary' dari Juli sampai Agustus 2006 lalu. Setelah tanda tangan dengan YG Entertainment, Big Bang berhasil merilis beberapa single yang sukses.
Sesudah menerima penghargaan sebagai 'Artist of The Year' dalam ajang M.Net KM Music Festival dan Seoul Gayo Daesang Award, Big Bang memutuskan untuk mengincar penggemar musik Jepang. Mereka merilis single dan mini album yang dijual ke Jepang.
